Right to Food and Work Campaign, West Bengal

Night before the rally Started Osanghatit Khetra Shramik Sangrami Manch’s state wide campaign began on 2nd October from Newlands Tea Garden near the Assam border. The campaign was formally started by Kiran Kalindi, president of the Progressive Plantation Workers Union (PPWU), with participation of about forty motorcycles, and about 90 people who set off for the rally. Many women workers from neighbouring tea gardens also arrived to send off the rally. The main issue of the rally was the burning need for an alternative politics that is based on working people’s demands and needs. Along with that, posters and leaflets on the Right To Food's Campaign were also distributed. দেশে খাদ্য সুরক্ষ‌ার দাবি যখন জোরালো হচ্ছে তখন সরকারি খাদ্য সংগ্রহ ও বণ্টন ব্যবস্থা ততই অবহেলিত হচ্ছে । বলা যায় সরকারি উদ্যোগে খাদ্য সংগ্রহ, সংরক্ষ‌ণ ও বণ্টন সামগ্রিক বিষয়টি খাদ্য সুরক্ষ‌ার মত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়ে আমাদের সামনে এক প্রশ্ন তুলে দিয়েছে । অথচ, দেশে খাদ্য সুরক্ষ‌া ও গণবণ্টন ব্যবস্থা দৃঢ় করার লক্ষ‌্যে ভারত সরকার সান্তা কুমারের নেতৃত্বে অগস্ট, ২০১৪ সালে এক উচ্চ পর্যায়ের ছয় সদস্যের কমিটি গঠন করে । ওই কমিটি তাঁদের সুপারিশে কৃষকের নিকট থেকে খাদ্য সংগ্রহ, গুদামজাত করা ও তা সামগ্রিক গণবন্টন ব্যবস্থার মাধ্যমে সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়া সহ খাদ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা পদ্ধতি জোরদার করার ওপর গুরুত্ব আরোপ করে । ভারত সরকারের সান্তা কুমার কমিটি গঠনের উদ্দেশ্যও ছিল ভারতের খাদ্য সরবরাহ নিগম(এফসিআই) দ্বারা খাদ্য শস্য সংগ্রহে আরও উন্নত পদ্ধতি আরোপ করার পাশাপাশি সরবরাহ ব্যবস্থাকে সংহত করা । উচ্চ পর্যায়ের কমিটি দেশজুড়ে বিভিন্ন স্তরের স্বার্থসংশ্লিষ্ট সংস্থাগুলির সঙ্গে আলাপ আলোচনার মাধ্যমে পরামর্শ গ্রহণ ও তা নথিভুক্ত করণের কাজ করেন । এ ব্যাপারে দেশের সংবাদ মাধ্যমে মতামত জানানোর জন্য ব...
